Heure d'été prints each poster on demand, in the workshop closest to your address. Here's where, on what paper, and within what timeframe.
Where is your poster printed?
In the partner workshop closest to your delivery address. An order placed in Germany is printed in Germany, an order placed in the United States is printed in the United States, an order placed in France is printed in France.
We do not stock any posters: your copy does not exist until you order it. The journey to you is therefore as short as possible, and nothing is overproduced.

For other countries we deliver to, the poster ships from the nearest available workshop. We prefer to say this rather than pretend our map is perfect.
What is print-on-demand?
It's production without stock: the poster is printed after the order, for a single person, then delivered. No wall art sits in a warehouse waiting to be sold or thrown away.
The trade-off is one extra business day for printing. It's the price of not stocking anything, and it seems fair to us.
On what paper?
A matte uncoated paper of 170 g/m², FSC certified, meaning it comes from sustainably managed forests.
Uncoated means the surface remains slightly fibrous. The ink penetrates it instead of sitting on top, and light diffuses into it instead of bouncing off it. An uncoated poster can be read without glare, like a book page, and not like a glossy photograph.
How long does it take to receive a poster?
Average observed delivery times: 3 business days in France.
The timeframe starts from the order and includes printing. It remains comparable from one country to another, as production is local: a poster doesn't have to cross a continent to reach you.
Are the posters sold with a frame?
No, our posters are sold alone, without a frame.
A frame travels poorly, breaks easily, and weighs nearly ten times the weight of a poster. You will find a better one, and often cheaper, near you. Our three formats, 30 × 40 cm, 40 × 50 cm and 50 × 70 cm, are standard sizes for which frames can be found everywhere.
What we won't say
That our posters are "made in France". They are printed as close to you as possible, which is not the same thing, and which we believe is preferable: your copy has traveled the shortest possible distance.

What is the difference between coated and uncoated paper?
Coated paper receives a thin mineral layer that makes its surface smooth and slightly glossy; the ink remains on top. Uncoated paper retains a fibrous surface into which the ink penetrates. The former enhances contrasts, the latter diffuses light and can be read without glare. Heure d'été posters are printed on a 170 g/m² matte uncoated paper.
What does FSC certification mean for a poster?
The FSC label certifies that the paper fiber comes from sustainably managed forests, according to specifications controlled by an independent body. It concerns the origin of the wood, not the place of printing.
Is a print-on-demand poster of lower quality?
No. Print-on-demand describes the time of production, not its process or medium. A poster printed individually on 170 g/m² FSC-certified paper is identical to the same poster printed by the thousands in advance.
What poster size should I choose for wall decoration?
The 30 × 40 cm is suitable for a hallway, an entrance, or a composition of several posters on the same wall. The 50 × 70 cm stands alone above a sofa, bed, or console. The 40 × 50 cm is the intermediate size, to be preferred when the wall is narrow.
Can several posters be ordered in the same shipment?
Yes. Posters from the same order ship together, in a single tube, regardless of their number. This is the most economical and lowest-emission option, and it's what we recommend for creating a wall composition.
