Shipping policy
Heure d'été prints every poster on demand, in the workshop closest to your address. Here is where, on which paper, and how soon.
Where is your poster printed?
In the partner workshop closest to your delivery address. An order placed in Germany is printed in Germany, an order placed in the United States is printed in the United States, an order placed in France is printed in France.
We hold no stock: your copy does not exist before your order. The journey to you is therefore as short as possible, and nothing is produced in excess.

What is print on demand?
It is production without stock: the poster is printed after the order, for one person, then delivered. No wall art sits in a warehouse waiting to be sold, or thrown away.
The trade-off is one extra business day, the time it takes to print. That is the price of holding no stock, and it seems fair to us.
On which paper?
An uncoated matte paper of 170 gsm, FSC certified, from sustainably managed forests.
Uncoated means the surface stays slightly fibrous. Ink sinks into it instead of sitting on top of it, and light diffuses instead of bouncing off. An uncoated poster reads without glare, like the page of a book, and not like a glossy photograph.
How long does it take to receive a poster?
Average delivery time: 3 business days in France.
The time starts from the order and includes printing. It stays comparable from one country to the next, since production is local: a poster has no continent to cross to reach you.
Are posters sold with a frame?
No, our posters are sold on their own, without a frame.
A frame travels badly, breaks easily and weighs nearly ten times as much as a poster. You will find a better one, often cheaper, close to home. Our three sizes, 30 × 40 cm, 40 × 50 cm and 50 × 70 cm, are standard sizes for which frames can be found everywhere.
What we will not say
That our posters are manufactured in France. They are printed as close to you as possible, which is not the same thing, and which we consider preferable: your copy has travelled the shortest possible distance.
Frequently asked questions
Does Heure d'été print its posters in France?
Yes for orders delivered in France: they are printed in a partner workshop located in France. For other countries, printing takes place in the workshop closest to the delivery address.
What is the difference between coated and uncoated paper?
Coated paper receives a thin mineral layer that makes its surface smooth and slightly glossy; ink stays on top of it. Uncoated paper keeps a fibrous surface into which ink sinks. The first sharpens contrast, the second diffuses light and reads without glare. Heure d'été posters are printed on uncoated matte paper of 170 gsm.
What does FSC certification mean for a poster?
The FSC label certifies that the paper fibre comes from sustainably managed forests, under a specification audited by an independent body. It covers the origin of the wood, not the place of printing.
Is a print-on-demand poster of lower quality?
No. Print on demand describes when production happens, not how it is done nor on what. A poster printed one at a time on 170 gsm FSC certified paper is identical to the same poster run by the thousand in advance.
Which poster size should I choose for wall decor?
30 × 40 cm suits a hallway, an entrance, or a composition of several posters on one wall. 50 × 70 cm holds on its own above a sofa, a bed or a console. 40 × 50 cm is the middle ground, to be preferred when the wall is narrow.
Can several posters be ordered together?
Yes. The posters of one order travel together, in a single tube, whatever their number. It is the most economical option and the least emitting one, and it is what we recommend for composing a wall.
