Heart Crown and Mirror: This calligram is part of the poem-drawings that Apollinaire composed between 1913 and 1916, where the arrangement of words on the page literally depicts their subject - here a heart, a crown, and a mirror. Published in Calligrammes (1918), it merges poetry and visual arts in an unprecedented avant-garde gesture.

The Stabbed Dove and the Fountain: One of Apollinaire's most poignant calligrams: the words form a dove and a fountain, while the text recites the names of beloved women and mourns friends fallen at the front. Published in Calligrammes (1918), it merges war mourning and romantic nostalgia into a single typographical image.

It's Raining: Five thin lines of letters slide diagonally down the page, like trails of rain on a window. Below the drawing, the caption carries the title and the author: Il Pleut, Guillaume Apollinaire.
