The Empress, The Emperor and The Hierophant: a set of 3 Rider-Waite tarot wall art prints, 20x28 in (50x70 cm). Arcana III · IV · V, which follow one another in the deck, hung in that order: the three figures of power, mother, father and teacher.

What do The Empress, The Emperor and The Hierophant show?

On the left, The Empress (III): a woman crowned with twelve stars, seated on cushions in a field of wheat, a scepter in her hand, a heart-shaped shield bearing the sign of Venus at her feet, before a forest and a waterfall. In the center, The Emperor (IV): a bearded ruler in armor under a red robe, seated on a stone throne carved with ram's heads, an ankh scepter in one hand and an orb in the other, before barren mountains. On the right, The Hierophant (V): a priest wearing a triple crown, seated between two pillars, his right hand raised in blessing, two crossed keys at his feet and two monks kneeling before him.

The three cards share the same layout, centered on a cream background, with their number at the top and their name at the bottom.

What does The Empress tarot card mean?

The Empress is the card of abundance: fertility, creativity, nature and nurturing, everything that grows and is shared.

What does The Emperor tarot card mean?

The Emperor is the card of authority: structure, stability, order and protection, what holds firm and holds things together.

What does The Hierophant tarot card mean?

The Hierophant is the card of tradition: teaching, ritual, belief and the knowledge passed down from a mentor.

Where does the Rider-Waite tarot come from?

Published in London in 1909 by Rider, it was drawn by the illustrator Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite. Its 22 major arcana set the look of the modern tarot.

Is it bad to put tarot cards on your wall?

No: these are 1909 illustrations, hung as art. Some people avoid displaying cards they find dark, others choose them for their meaning of passage and renewal. The set reads from left to right, in the order of the deck.

How much wall space does a 20x28 triptych need?

Three 20-inch-wide prints hung 2 to 3 inches apart span about 64 inches: the width of a queen headboard or a sideboard.

Are the prints framed?

No, frames are not included. The prints ship on thick, matte, eco-friendly paper.

A gift for tarot lovers

Beautiful images deserve beautiful paper

The paper is an uncoated matte 170 gsm. Its surface stays slightly fibrous, the ink sinks in, the light spreads across it. Colors keep their depth, as on the page of a book.

It is eco-friendly paper from sustainably managed forests, and printed as close to you as possible to shorten transport.

Hanging a piece is not the same as seeing it once. It stays there, you find it again in passing, and the day pauses for a second. It is a moment you give yourself, and offer to those who live with you.
