Thin, elongated willow leaves intertwine in an airy blue and white ballet. Among Morris's most refined patterns, Willow has an almost Japanese lightness.

Willow (1874) was one of William Morris's own favorite patterns. Inspired by the weeping willows that lined the Thames near his Kelmscott home, it perfectly illustrates his belief that beauty arises from the careful observation of nature. The blue and white palette evokes Delft earthenware and Chinese porcelain, which were very fashionable in Victorian England.

Its lightness makes it one of the most versatile Morris patterns: it suits both a narrow hallway and a large living room, and easily combines with other colors and styles.
