Marigold (1875) is one of the most famous designs by William Morris (1834-1896), founder of the Arts & Crafts movement. Against the ugliness of industrialisation, Morris defended throughout his life the beauty of craftsmanship and everyone's right to be surrounded by beautiful and well-made objects. His botanical designs, inspired by medieval embroidery and English nature, have become absolute classics in design history.
