"Suspended by one foot from a gallows of living wood, the other leg bent, his face serene and haloed with light: he does not suffer, he chooses to see the world differently."

Symbolism and origin of the card

This card is from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, published in 1909 by Arthur Edward Waite and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith. It is the most reproduced and studied tarot deck in the world: each card tells a complete scene (unlike the Tarot of Marseille, which is more symbolic and abstract for the minor arcana), which has made it the visual reference for modern tarot reading worldwide.

A voluntary pause, a temporary renunciation of action to gain clarity. The Hanged Man teaches that letting go, far from being a failure, sometimes opens the only real way out.

What does The Hanged Man card mean?

The Hanged Man represents voluntary letting go and a change of perspective. It is the card of a pause that allows one to see a situation from a new angle.

What size should I choose for this Hanged Man arcana poster?

This Hanged Man arcana poster is available in 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm, and 50 x 70 cm. The 30 x 40 cm size is suitable for a hallway, office, or gallery wall; the 50 x 70 cm size stands alone above a sofa or bed. The frame is not included; the sizes are standard and can be found commercially.

Gift idea to accompany a period of pause or transition.

Beautiful images deserve beautiful paper

The paper is an uncoated matte 170 gsm. Its surface stays slightly fibrous, the ink sinks in, the light spreads across it. Colors keep their depth, as on the page of a book.

It is eco-friendly paper from sustainably managed forests, and printed as close to you as possible to shorten transport.

Hanging a piece is not the same as seeing it once. It stays there, you find it again in passing, and the day pauses for a second. It is a moment you give yourself, and offer to those who live with you.
