The Hanged Man, Death and Temperance: a set of 3 Rider-Waite tarot card wall art prints, 20x28 in (50x70 cm). Arcana XII · XIII · XIV, which follow one another in the deck, hung in that order: letting go, transformation and balance restored.

What do The Hanged Man, Death and Temperance show?

On the left, The Hanged Man (XII): a man hanging upside down by one foot from a living T-shaped tree, the other leg bent, hands behind his back, his head ringed with a halo. In the center, Death (XIII): a skeleton in black armor on a white horse, carrying a black banner with a white rose; before him a fallen king, a bishop, a young woman and a child, and in the distance the sun rising between two towers. On the right, Temperance (XIV): a red-winged angel pouring water from one cup into another, one foot on land and the other in water, irises on the bank, and a path leading to a crown of light in the mountains.

The three cards share the same layout, centered on a cream background, with their number at the top and their name at the bottom.

What does The Hanged Man tarot card mean?

The Hanged Man is the card of surrender: a pause, a willing sacrifice, and an upside-down view that shows things differently.

What does Death tarot card mean?

Death does not foretell a death: it is the card of transformation, the end of a cycle that makes room for renewal.

What does Temperance tarot card mean?

Temperance is the card of moderation: balance, patience and the harmony found by blending opposites.

Where does the Rider-Waite tarot come from?

Published in London in 1909 by Rider, it was drawn by the illustrator Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite. Its 22 major arcana set the look of the modern tarot.

Is it bad to put tarot cards on your wall?

No: these are 1909 illustrations, hung as art. Some people avoid displaying cards they find dark, others choose them for their meaning of passage and renewal. The set reads from left to right, in the order of the deck.

How much wall space does a 20x28 triptych need?

Three 20-inch-wide prints hung 2 to 3 inches apart span about 64 inches: the width of a queen headboard or a sideboard.

Are the prints framed?

No, frames are not included. The prints ship on thick, matte, eco-friendly paper.

Beautiful images deserve beautiful paper

The paper is an uncoated matte 170 gsm. Its surface stays slightly fibrous, the ink sinks in, the light spreads across it. Colors keep their depth, as on the page of a book.

It is eco-friendly paper from sustainably managed forests, and printed as close to you as possible to shorten transport.

Hanging a piece is not the same as seeing it once. It stays there, you find it again in passing, and the day pauses for a second. It is a moment you give yourself, and offer to those who live with you.
