"An angel with outstretched wings pours liquid from one cup to another, one foot on land and the other in water: a perfect balance between two opposing elements."

Symbolism and origin of the card

This card is from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot, published in 1909 by Arthur Edward Waite and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith. It is the most reproduced and studied tarot deck in the world: each card tells a complete scene (unlike the Tarot de Marseille, which is more symbolic and abstract for the minor arcana), making it the visual reference for modern tarot reading worldwide.

Temperance speaks of harmonious blending, patience, and just measure. Neither excess nor deprivation: the art of combining opposing forces to obtain something new and balanced.

What does the Temperance card mean?

Temperance symbolizes balance, patience, and the art of harmoniously combining opposing elements. It is the card of just measure and serene moderation.

What size should I choose for this Temperance arcana poster?

This Temperance arcana poster is available in 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm, and 50 x 70 cm. The 30 x 40 cm is suitable for a hallway, office, or gallery wall; the 50 x 70 cm stands alone above a sofa or bed. The frame is not included; the sizes are standard and can be found commercially.

Gift idea for someone seeking balance.

Beautiful images deserve beautiful paper

The paper is an uncoated matte 170 gsm. Its surface stays slightly fibrous, the ink sinks in, the light spreads across it. Colors keep their depth, as on the page of a book.

It is eco-friendly paper from sustainably managed forests, and printed as close to you as possible to shorten transport.

Hanging a piece is not the same as seeing it once. It stays there, you find it again in passing, and the day pauses for a second. It is a moment you give yourself, and offer to those who live with you.
