"A pink water lily flower fully opens, delicate petals and golden heart, against a clean, almost abstract background."

Artwork Context

This print is signed by Ohara Koson (1877-1945), a master of the Shin-hanga movement and a renowned specialist in floral and animal compositions. The tight cropping on the flower alone, without landscape or context, reveals an almost modern sensibility.

What is special about the framing of this water lily print by Koson?

Unlike his more narrative compositions, Koson (1877-1945) here frames the flower alone, without landscape or context, revealing an almost modern sensibility for isolated botanical study.

Which format to choose for this reproduction?

This reproduction is available in 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm, and 50 x 70 cm. The 30 x 40 cm is suitable for a hallway, office, or gallery wall; the 50 x 70 cm stands alone above a sofa or bed. The frame is not included, sizes are standard and can be found commercially.

Gift idea for a lover of Japanese floral prints, a botany enthusiast.

Beautiful images deserve beautiful paper

The paper is an uncoated matte 170 gsm. Its surface stays slightly fibrous, the ink sinks in, the light spreads across it. Colors keep their depth, as on the page of a book.
