"Peasant women picking apples. Norman autumn according to Pissarro."

History of the work

The Apple Picking is a major work by Camille Pissarro, painted in 1888 in Éragny, a Norman village where the artist lived the last years of his life. Pissarro, father of Impressionism, depicts peasant women at work in an autumnal orchard with a pointillist touch influenced by Seurat. The golden and warm autumn light bathes the entire composition. A work that celebrates the labor of the land and the beauty of the seasons.

What technique does Pissarro employ in The Apple Picking?

Painted in 1888 in Éragny, the canvas uses a pointillist touch influenced by Seurat, as Pissarro - considered the father of Impressionism - explored the new color theories of his Neo-Impressionist juniors.

Gift idea for a dining room or living room in search of warmth and authenticity.

Beautiful images deserve beautiful paper

The paper is an uncoated matte 170 gsm. Its surface stays slightly fibrous, the ink sinks in, the light spreads across it. Colors keep their depth, as on the page of a book.

It is FSC certified, so it comes from sustainably managed forests, and printed as close to you as possible to shorten transport.

Hanging a piece is not the same as seeing it once. It stays there, you find it again in passing, and the day pauses for a second. It is a moment you give yourself, and offer to those who live with you.
