“Wild grasses and wildflowers fill the foreground, a stream winds towards a distant, subtle Mount Fuji, framed by purple hills.”

Context of the work

This 1858 print is signed by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), taken from his series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, created in the very year of his death. This compositional choice, where the wild nature of the foreground takes precedence over the sacred mountain, is characteristic of his late style.

When did Hiroshige create this print of the Ōtsuki plain?

Hiroshige (1797-1858) created this print in 1858, the very year of his death, in a more intimate late style where the wild nature of the foreground takes precedence over Mount Fuji itself.

What size should I choose for this reproduction?
